A different type of therapy
In couples therapy I work with the relationship, rather than the individual, through listening to their stories and becoming a third perspective, whilst creating a safe space where both people have time to speak.
We bring our history into our relationships and this can sometimes cause us to struggle to communicate through not seeing or hearing the other person. Couples often reach out asking for help with better communication. I believe we need to learn to accept the other person through understanding their development and that this will lead to a more constructive dialogue. An open and honest dialogue helps the couple find new ways to find each other again, from an empathic perspective.
